FIELD GUIDE

The story

Twistee Treat sells soft-serve ice cream from buildings shaped like ice-cream cones. The company describes them as 25-foot-tall fiberglass cone buildings, and the first cone-shaped stores were built in North Fort Myers, Florida, in the early 1980s. A new company, Twistee Treat USA, acquired the rights in 2010 and began building new stores, according to Wikipedia.
This is the chain's second Ocala stand, listed by the company as Ocala II at 7907 SW Highway 200; the other is on SW College Road. RoadsideArchitecture.com, a hobbyist guide to such buildings, says the modern Twistee Treat on SW Highway 200 was installed around 2016, when the modern buildings became narrower than earlier ones.
