Most contribution actions are attached to a listing so the evidence cannot become detached from the place it describes. Open a Big Thing, record a Visit if you have been there, then choose the useful action that matches what you actually know.

Visitor Log is the human layer on a listing. It is separate from your private Visit and never turns your Passport into a public travel timeline.

After recording a private Visit, you can deliberately publish a Visitor Log memory or note. Historic memories that are published can contribute to the Historian role on an optional public Explorer Card.

Contribute a listing photograph
Listings without an approved photograph invite community photography. Accepted submissions count toward the Photographer role; pending or rejected submissions do not.

Confirm what you found on the ground
After a Visit, answer the structured confirmation questions about the listing. Accepted, partly accepted or evidence-only confirmations can contribute to the Verifier role. Private Visit notes are never used as evidence.

Send a candidate name, human-readable location and useful evidence into editorial review. Suggestions never create or overwrite catalogue records automatically, and exact coordinates are not required.

RECOGNITION
Recognition follows accepted work
Project Big Things recognises useful contribution, not volume for its own sake. There are no points for spam, no paid contribution advantage and no public leaderboard.

Discovery suggestions deliberately do not award a public role yet. Recognition should follow accepted, useful work rather than raw submission volume. If you choose to make an Explorer Card public, its contribution count and roles are derived from eligible accepted or deliberately published work. Your email, private Visits, routes and private notes are not exposed.

What this is not
Contributions are not star reviews, social posts or a follower system. A Visitor Log entry can be reported, photographs are subject to rights and moderation rules, and factual listing changes remain evidence-led.
