This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
A 24-foot hydrant painted with Dalmatian spots stands at the Fire Museum of Texas, 400 Walnut Street, Beaumont. It weighs about 4,500 pounds. The Walt Disney Company donated it to the City of Beaumont on 9 March 1999. When it was made it was the world's largest fire hydrant, but larger ones have since been built, including a roughly 40-foot hydrant sculpture made in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2001, and Beaumont's tourism site now promotes it as the World's Largest Working Fire Hydrant.
