In 2009 the Arizona Daily Star reported a concrete wine bottle outside the Boondocks Lounge at 3306 N. First Ave. in Tucson, Arizona, about 35 feet tall, while a 1999 visitor tip gave 20 feet and described it as purple with grapevine decorations. The Star said it arrived in 1974 as part of the Peasant Villa restaurant and that its small back door, once leading to storage, had been padlocked shut.

FIELD GUIDE
The story
A concrete Chianti bottle outside a Tucson bar is a relic of an Italian restaurant, according to a 2009 newspaper report.
The Arizona Daily Star reported in 2009 that the bottle, about 35 feet tall, stood in front of the Boondocks Lounge on North First Avenue, just north of the Navajo Wash. It arrived in 1974 for an Italian restaurant known as the Peasant Villa. The Star says the original owners commissioned concrete artist Michael Kautza to build it for $3,500, and that it had a real-cork top. A small back door that once opened onto storage space had been padlocked shut.
