The story

The skillet is the centrepiece of the World Chicken Festival in downtown London, Kentucky. WYMT reported in September 2025 that people gather to see what it called the world's largest stainless-steel skillet, and the festival's director, Wayne Riley, said the festival was built around it.
The festival's own page says the first skillet was manufactured by London Bucket Co., Inc. in September 1991, and that a new skillet was constructed in 1999 by Logan Steel and Jeff Williams Welding. It gives the size as 10 feet, 6 inches across and 8 inches deep, weighing 700 pounds in total. It needs 300 gallons of cooking oil and can cook 600 quarters of chicken at one time.
