The story
A Rubik's Cube from the 1982 World's Fair is on display inside the Knoxville Convention Center, beside World's Fair Park. A June 2026 report syndicated by local television stations says it was a gift from the Hungarian government for the fair, where it stood at the entrance to Hungary's pavilion to honor Ernő Rubik, who invented the puzzle. The report gives its size as ten feet tall and 1,200 pounds.
The park's own history page calls it the "former World's Largest Rubik's Cube" and says it now lives in the Knoxville Convention Center. The Knoxville History Project, a community site, describes it as the world's largest at the time, with rotating squares.
