This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
A giant ping pong paddle, finished in February 2017 as a collaboration between Rise Brands and Kobolt Studios, hung inside Pins Mechanical Co., a duckpin bowling venue at 141 N. 4th Street in downtown Columbus, Ohio, according to a 2023 local report. Guinness World Records lists it as the largest table tennis bat, 11 ft 7.8 in tall and 6 ft 7.8 in wide, a record achieved by Rise Brands on 21 July 2017. The 2023 report places it indoors, on the wall inside the venue. Pins told that report it was built from wood and rubber.

FIELD GUIDE

The story

Inside a downtown Columbus venue hung a table tennis bat that Guinness World Records lists as the largest.
Guinness gives its size as 3.53 metres (11 ft 7.8 in) tall and 2.02 metres (6 ft 7.8 in) wide, and dates the record to 21 July 2017, achieved by Rise Brands at Pins Mechanical Company. A 2023 local report says the paddle was finished in February 2017 as a collaboration between Rise Brands and Kobolt Studios, and that it was built of wood and rubber. The same report gives slightly smaller dimensions, 11 ft 6 in by 6 ft 5 in, and places the paddle inside the venue's 4th Street location, which the venue lists at 141 N 4th St. The venue's own page does not mention the paddle, and no recent source confirms it is still on display.
