FIELD GUIDE

The story

A 14-foot human head made of light stands in the atrium of the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and its face is whoever stepped out of the photo booth in its neck a moment ago.
As We Are was conceived by Columbus artist Matthew Mohr, a professor at the Columbus College of Art and Design, and fabricated by Design Communications Ltd. of Boston. It is made from ribbons of ultrabright LED screens. Visitors enter a booth that takes 3-D pictures, then step out to see their portrait shown as the giant face for about 30 seconds. Images are stored in a database and rotate, fading one into another.
