Violata Pax (Wounded Peace), a 13-foot bronze dove sculpture on an iron base by Troy, Alabama-born artist Fred 'Nall' Hollis, depicts a peace dove with half its scalp and one claw torn away, symbolizing the shattering of peace. Originally commissioned by Pope Benedict XVI for the exhibit 'The Sins of Humanity' and displayed at the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi (backdrop for the UN's 2006 World Peace Day observance), the sculpture was relocated to Troy University's Montgomery campus in 2017, placed opposite the Rosa Parks Museum at Nall's own request as a reminder of her act of courage.
