The story
This Twistee Treat on West Fletcher Avenue in Tampa is one of the chain's cone-shaped soft-serve stands. In July 2014 the Tampa Bay Times reported that two cone-shaped Twistee Treat spots were about to open locally, one on Sheldon Road and another on West Fletcher Avenue, due to open in mid August, and Roadside Architecture dates the modern building on W. Fletcher to 2014. The company, based in Orlando, lists the stand at 3846 W. Fletcher Ave. among its current Florida locations.
The chain's cone buildings go back to a franchise that began in North Fort Myers in the early 1980s; Twistee Treat USA revived the name in 2010. The company's own site describes its fiberglass cone buildings as 25 feet tall, while a 2013 Tampa Tribune report on the New Tampa store gave 28 feet.
