Twistee Treat (New Tampa Blvd.)

New Tampa's Twistee Treat is a stand built as an ice cream cone, on the northwest corner of Bruce B. Downs and New Tampa boulevards. Patch reported in April 2013 that the company planned to open "a new iconic, cone-shaped stand" there, and the Tampa Bay Business Journal, relaying a Tampa Tribune report that month, said the building rose 28 feet and had drawn stares from passing motorists during construction; Twistee Treat USA president Corey Balzer said it would be the fifth shop he owned in the region. In January 2022 Neighborhood News readers voted it the area's best dessert spot, calling it the "Big Ice Cream Cone" and giving the building as 25 feet, and noting an overflow line in the drive-through most nights. The two accounts give different heights. Twistee Treat's own Florida locations page, as archived in May 2026, still lists New Tampa at 8810 New Tampa Blvd. It serves soft-serve in cones, cups and cookie sandwiches.
