FIELD GUIDE
The story
Twistee Treat's first East Hillsborough County stand, opened in spring 2016, is a giant ice-cream cone in a shopping-centre parking lot on State Road 60 in Valrico. The Tampa Bay Times reported on 13 January 2016 that the Orlando-based company had broken ground on a 20-foot-high fiberglass cone-shaped building at 1886 E State Road 60, in the Brandon Blvd. Shoppes parking lot in front of LA Fitness, with service expected to start by April 1. Roadside Architecture records it as a modern building installed in 2016.
It is the second Twistee Treat building in Valrico. Roadside Architecture says the first, in place by 2011, used the bottom half of a vintage Twistee Treat with a replacement conical roof and operated as a Topper's Craft Creamery; the 2016 cone is a separate, newer building.
