FIELD GUIDE

The story

A giant steel slingshot, cocked toward downtown Columbus, stands on a plaza in Franklinton that the Columbus Dispatch called tailor-made for photos.
The sculpture stands at the corner of Sullivant Avenue and Lucas Street, next to River & Rich, a development by the Columbus real estate company Casto. According to VisualOhio in 2022, Casto approached Franklinton artist Andrew Lundberg of Lundberg Industrial Arts, with whom it had worked before, and chose the slingshot from about half a dozen design ideas. CBUStoday adds that the project was approved by the East Franklinton Review Board because the plaza plans included a sculpture.
