The Nightingale is a 19-foot-tall, 9-foot-wide public sculpture by Chicago artist Janet Austin, made in 2019 for the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce and standing at Diversey Parkway and Broadway (2801 N Broadway) in Lakeview East. Welded steel, stainless steel, fiberglass tape, concrete and glass mosaic form a nightingale in a tree that turns into a birdcage, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale.
