This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
The Bucket is a 1935-built hamburger stand in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles, an example of programmatic architecture designed to resemble a giant lunch bucket of the era, originally topped with a large handle. It operated for 78 years before closing in 2013 amid an ADA-accessibility parking dispute, then reopened under new ownership in October 2018 to a warmly-received community welcome, and continues to operate as a burger restaurant today.
