This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
An 18-foot-tall, 23-karat-gold-leafed bronze replica of Donald De Lue's 1949 "Spirit of American Youth Rising From the Waves," the WWII memorial figure at the Normandy American Cemetery in France. Developer Rick Caruso commissioned an enlarged copy of the original (which is smaller) for his Americana at Brand open-air shopping/entertainment complex in Glendale; it was dedicated in 2008 and stands within a two-acre courtyard at the center of the property.
