This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
The Barrel is an oversized public-art installation at the intersection of Fourth and Main Streets, marking the center of Louisville's Bourbon District. Built from five rings of Corten steel and black powder-coated aluminum, it stands nearly nine times the size of a typical 53-gallon bourbon barrel. Official Louisville tourism material groups it with the city's other giant Main Street landmarks -- the Louisville Slugger bat and the 21c Museum Hotel's David replica -- as a signature downtown photo-op representing the city's bourbon heritage.
