Studio City Hand Car Wash giant hand

NBC Los Angeles described the Studio City Hand Car Wash on Ventura Boulevard in August 2025 as "famously identified by the large statue of a hand holding a sign and a car." The business's signage has also been a planning matter. On 11 July 2025 the Los Angeles City Council voted 15 to 0 to adopt the Planning and Land Use Management Committee's report and a negotiated compromise over what Citizen Portal called the car wash's disputed sign. Citizen Portal reported that the compromise reduces some elements of the existing signage, attaches conditions and affirms enforcement of the Ventura Boulevard Specific Plan, and that the Council acknowledged divided community views, with neighbourhood groups calling for planning rules to be enforced and the property owner pointing to cost and hardship.
