FIELD GUIDE

The story

A giant Emmy, an 18-foot bronze copy of the television award, stands on the Television Academy's campus in North Hollywood.
The Academy says the replica weighs 1,750 pounds and rests on a poured concrete base in a landscaped mini-park. It required 11 months of preparation and some 45 craftsmen, and is cast in silicon bronze. It was erected in 1991, the year a City of Los Angeles marker says the Hall of Fame was officially dedicated and the Academy moved into its new North Hollywood headquarters. A 2014 City of Los Angeles marker describes the giant Emmy as standing in the centre of a fountain and says the Hall of Fame itself was instituted in 1984.
