"Slow Down Cat" is a 12-foot-tall sculpture of an orange tabby cat, created by Sebastopol junk-art sculptor Patrick Amiot and adopted by the Sebastopol Police Department as a traffic-safety mascot. Rather than sitting at one fixed spot, the cat is periodically moved around town and parked on different roadsides -- usually staying in one location for several days at a time -- to catch drivers' attention and encourage them to slow down, while also building community goodwill toward the police department.
