Redman, a 37-foot carved sculpture by Peter Wolf Toth, the 31st of 74 'Trail of the Whispering Giants' pieces Toth created across the US between Oklahoma and Montana in 1979. Originally installed on the south shore of Lake Loveland, it became a beloved local landmark before weathering and safety concerns led the city to have it removed in 1993; rancher Pat Block then preserved it on her property along Highway 34, west of the Carter Lake turnoff, where it stood for decades. Due to ongoing structural deterioration, the sculpture was recently lowered to a horizontal, face-up position on Block's ranch -- no longer standing upright, but still on-site and viewable by travelers who stop.
