Recovery, a 12-foot stainless-steel sculpture by Sumter native and internationally recognized bird sculptor Grainger McKoy, depicts the wing of a pintail duck in flight, cast from a wood original, and sits in a reflecting infinity pool at Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter, South Carolina. McKoy created the piece in 2010, choosing the 'recovery' wing position -- considered the weakest moment in bird flight -- for what he saw as its beauty and grace.
