The story
Three dog silhouettes, each 18 feet tall, stand in a dog park in Indio: one stretching, one sitting and one standing. Romanian artist Oana Stanescu made them as Mutts for the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Cultured magazine described the steel forms at the festival as covered in live plants, among them lantana, cassia, fountain grass and jasmine. Visit Greater Palm Springs says Stanescu was inspired by her dog, Perry.
After the festival the dogs moved to the Miles Avenue Dog Park. In an April 2026 post, the tourism board reports that, instead of being covered in greenery, they now have large artificial turf spots on them.
