Mortimer Snerd (Leo's Automotive)

A fiberglass 'Mortimer Snerd'/'Happy Halfwit' Muffler Man statue outside Leo's Automotive on Eleventh Street at Stagg Drive, Beaumont, Texas, across from the Medical Center. The shop originally belonged to Ken's Muffler and Brakes before changing hands; Leo's Automotive repainted the figure and added its own name to the muffler it holds. International Fiberglass's 1966 catalog offered this 'Halfwit'/'Snerd' model as tall as 21 ft, though many surviving examples derive from smaller molds yielding closer to 14-15 ft -- this specific statue's exact height was not independently confirmed. Distinct from the similarly-named Mortimer Snerd statue at Ken's Muffler & Brake in Dallas, already catalogued in this cohort -- a different city, different surviving figure of the same model type.
