The story

Loveland, Colorado, has a love lock sculpture beside its Visitors Center. Visit Loveland describes it as a 24,000-pound, 10-foot-tall, 30-foot-wide steel sculpture and says the city launched it in 2019. Visit Loveland also calls the LOVE sign the largest of its kind in the U.S.; that is the tourism bureau's claim.
The lettering spells LOVE. Visitors attach padlocks to the metal grid on the back; Visit Loveland says locks must be under 4 by 4 by 3 inches, can be brought from home or bought at the Visitors Center, where Visit Loveland lists them at $20, and that a lock fixed to the front will be removed. It asks visitors not to throw keys into Lake Loveland. A 2020 report by Retro 102.5 credits a local engineer with the design and says it won a national Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America. Colorado Life says a second, heart-shaped sculpture stands at the southeast corner of Lake Loveland and that in 2025 the city added two more on the southwest side of the Loveland Museum.
