A 110-foot steel-core cross, with arms spanning 64 feet and weighing approximately 100,000 pounds, stands on US Highway 52 at the entrance to Lake City, South Carolina. Erected in March 2016 on an acre of donated land, it was the project of 'At the Foot of the Cross,' a non-profit ecumenical group organized by Lake City First Baptist Church, and was described at the time as the first monument of its kind in South Carolina. It was engineered to withstand winds up to 145 mph and is visible for roughly two miles in any direction.
