FIELD GUIDE
The story
One imagines she is about to take a tram into the city to meet her bronzed counterpart. That is artsACT's own description, and it is the best sentence in Canberra's public art register.
Dean Bowen made Lady With Flowers in 2011 – his second public work in Canberra after Big Little Man of 2009 in Petrie Plaza – and she stands on Flemington Road near the Nullarbor Avenue light rail station in Gungahlin. Bowen's figures are described as figurative bronzes animated by a whimsical naivety intended to touch the child in people of all ages.
