FIELD GUIDE
The story
The kangaroo and joey were designed for a flower festival and given a park to live in afterwards.
ACT Legislative Assembly records confirm that Joey Park at Throsby was opened as the permanent home of a sculpture originally created for Floriade's thirtieth anniversary – Canberra's spring flower festival, which builds enormous temporary displays in Commonwealth Park each year and dismantles them when the bulbs are done.
