A 40-foot-long, 33,000-pound King Kong statue -- nicknamed 'The Great Ape of Myrtle Beach' -- was installed by crane in May 2014 atop a mock cityscape outside the Hollywood Wax Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, perched over a scaled-down replica of the Empire State Building as a tribute to the 1933 film 'King Kong.' The museum opened to the public the following month.
