Jacky the Jackalope Red Velvet Events

On North Lamar Boulevard in Austin stands a patinated steel jackalope. Red Velvet, an events and brand-activation company, says Jacky stands 18 feet 2 inches high and weighs 2,000 pounds, and that it sits outside the company's Austin headquarters at 7121 N Lamar Boulevard.

Red Velvet describes a jackalope as a cross between a speedy jackrabbit and a graceful antelope, and says the figure stands for the company's culture and brand. Its own account says the original plan was for a smaller sculpture, but the chief executive decided that Jacky should stand tall at eye level with the office building. Ion Art, the Austin fabrication firm that Red Velvet credits with building it, completed the work in spring 2018. In an announcement post, Red Velvet introduced Jacky as the latest addition to the team and said a giant jackalope in front of its "Forever Home" just made sense.
