FIELD GUIDE
The story
Kenora, Ontario, has a giant muskie at the northern end of Lake of the Woods. Husky the Muskie is, according to Visit Sunset Country, "a nationally known symbol for the City of Kenora."
TVO (August 2021) gives 12 metres and two and a half tonnes; Visit Sunset Country gives 40 feet and 2.5 tons. According to TVO, the idea came from the Kenora District Chamber of Commerce, which was looking for a way to celebrate Canada's centennial in 1967, and the monument was designed and constructed by Jules Horvath and Bob Selway of Deluxe Design Signs and Displays. TVO credits one man with naming the fish and with its slogan, "Prevent Water Pollution."
