This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
A 7-foot-tall, 2-ton gopher statue atop Topo, a fast-casual restaurant next to Joe's Real Barbecue in downtown Gilbert, at 301 N Gilbert Rd. Built by the same fabricators who created structures for the San Francisco Zoo and Monterey Bay Aquarium (constructed in Tucson), the gopher has glowing eyes that independently change color every 30 minutes, with holiday-themed color schemes planned. Real pocket gophers are under a foot long, making the statue many times life-size.
