A 7-foot-tall, 1,600-lb concrete strawberry on a pedestal in front of the Poteet Volunteer Fire Department, Poteet, Texas -- the self-proclaimed 'Strawberry Capital of Texas' and home of the Poteet Strawberry Festival. The base reads 'Poteet Strawberry Capital Of Texas' and the statue was presented to the city by the Central Power and Light Company. Real strawberries are only an inch or two long, so the statue is dramatically oversized regardless of the exact figure. A second, larger strawberry statue has stood for 30+ years in front of the separate Strawberry Pit food mart in town.
