A guitar-shaped scoreboard built for Herschel Greer Stadium in 1993 now stands in The Outfield, a green space in Nashville's Wedgewood-Houston neighbourhood. AJ Capital Partners bought it from Metro Nashville at auction in 2019 for $54,815, and WKRN called it a neighbourhood landmark in 2025.

FIELD GUIDE
The story
A scoreboard shaped like a guitar kept score for the Nashville Sounds for more than two decades, and it outlived the ballpark it was built for.
Stadium Journey reports that Sounds owner Larry Schmittou came up with the idea and took it to Fair-Play Scoreboards; he first imagined the guitar upright, then turned it on its side. The $500,000 scoreboard was hauled in on eight truckloads and assembled for the home opener on April 8, 1993. Stadium Journey gives its size as 53 feet tall and 115 feet wide; the developer's neighbourhood site gives 116 feet wide and nearly 36,000 pounds. Bobby Joslin of Joslin & Sons Signs, the original installers, told WKRN it was "about 120 feet long, 80 feet to the top" and, "At the time it was the largest sign structure east of the Mississippi!"

WHAT TO EXPECT
WKRN reported in March 2025 that the scoreboard stands on Chestnut Street in Wedgewood-Houston, with a green space in front that hosts the neighbourhood farmers' market. The developer describes an acre of lawn with a bandshell and painted shipping containers beneath the guitar.
