The story
There is a giant kiwi at Orana Wildlife Park, and it used to sell bacon.
Christchurch Art Gallery research records the statue as one of the Kiwi Bacon Company's advertising birds, formerly mounted at the corner of Moorhouse Avenue and Colombo Street in Christchurch, before being relocated out to the wildlife park near the city. A 2025 visitor feature describes it as a well-known feature of the park.
