FIELD GUIDE
The story
Gollum was thirteen metres long and lying on his front, sprawled across the ceiling of Wellington Airport's main terminal, reaching for a fish.
Wētā Workshop built him for the Hobbit premiere period, and he was documented in the airport's 2013 annual review. As terminal art he was more startling than the eagles that shared the space: a hunched, emaciated, unmistakably unsettling figure suspended over a check-in hall, at a scale that made his ribs and fingers into architecture.
