FIELD GUIDE
The story
According to the Town of Beaverlodge's undated page, a beaver sculpture 18 feet long sits on a log along the town's highway corridor. The town calls the attraction "a must to see in Northwestern Alberta on your way up the Alaska Highway."
The town's page tells how it came about. The idea took shape in February 2004 with a local entrepreneur who, the page says, "had always dreamed of giving Beaverlodge something." Grant applications were submitted and donations were solicited, and the page credits the town's recreation director, town office staff and council with support.
