This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
Six concrete carrot sculptures, 4 to 10 feet tall, stand at Food Gatherers, 1 Carrot Way, in Ann Arbor. American Road magazine reports they have been in place since 2013 and were created by a man who designed miniature-golf courses. They were repainted in autumn 2024 by a fine arts student from Sinclair College in Ohio. The carrot is Food Gatherers' logo.

FIELD GUIDE

The story

Outside a food bank's warehouse in Ann Arbor, the building's address, 1 Carrot Way, is the first clue to what stands beside it.
American Road magazine reports that the six concrete carrots range from four to ten feet in height and have been in their current location since 2013. It says they were created by a man who made a living designing miniature golf courses; the article does not name him. The carrots belong to Food Gatherers, the food bank and food rescue organisation serving Washtenaw County, which American Road says was founded in 1988. A 2024 news report places them outside the warehouse, visible from Dhu Varren Drive and tucked around the corner of a large garden.
