FIELD GUIDE

The story

A bull's head mounted above the sign of the Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in downtown Hutto, Texas, was described by Community Impact in 2021 as a landmark of this restaurant: a large sirloin stockade bull head that makes it hard to miss.
According to Community Impact in 2016, a large cow statue named Ferdinand once stood in front of the original restaurant in the Frame Switch area near Taylor. When the cafe moved to its current downtown location in 2005 because of a road expansion, only Ferdinand's head came along, and it was mounted above the door.
