FIELD GUIDE

The story

Paris, Arkansas, has an Eiffel Tower of its own, set above a fountain on the town square. According to the state tourism site, Eiffel Tower Park was established in 2014 on the west side of the square, and the tower was a gift to the city. An 18-foot tower and a 7-foot two-tiered water feature together make a 25-foot tower, according to the same site. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported in 2014 that hundreds of volunteers had helped create its permanent home.
The tourism site says the tower is painted with the same paint, brand and colour, as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
