FIELD GUIDE

The story

Arkansas, the Daisy Airgun Museum says, had no entry on a Wikipedia state-by-state list of world's largest roadside attractions. So in August 2019 the museum approached the City of Rogers about commissioning one: a Daisy BB gun, 25 feet tall, on the reasoning that Daisy was to BB guns what Louisville Slugger was to baseball.
The sculpture was fabricated by Elemoose of Springfield, Missouri, which Arkansas.com describes as a firm specialising in larger-than-life sculptures, mostly for theme parks. It was due to go up in June 2020, but KNWA reported that the pandemic put the installation on pause. Arkansas.com gives 19 January 2021 for its installation on the sidewalk outside the museum; KNWA reported it the next day as a Red Ryder BB gun replica facing 2nd Street. Arkansas.com adds that fixing it to a historic building took specialist know-how.
