This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
"Breakfast" is a brightly-colored, oversized sculpture of an apple at the corner of Main and 7th Street in downtown Grand Junction, part of the city's Art on the Corner outdoor sculpture program. Created by Fruita-based artist Terry Burnett as a comic homage to the local fresh-produce industry, the piece depicts a cartoon ant with bulging eyes at the apple's base, having gorged himself on fruit "many times his own size" -- Grand Junction's official visitor bureau likewise describes it as depicting an ant "munching on a giant red apple," explicitly framing the apple itself as giant-scaled rather than a true-to-life produce model.
