"Big Drop Five" is a welded-steel giant bicycle sculpture at the corner of 5th and Main Street in downtown Grand Junction, part of the city's long-running Art on the Corner outdoor sculpture program (the first such program in the United States, begun in 1984). It was donated to the city in 2006 by Grand Junction resident and artist Alvin Sessions. Visitors are permitted to climb on it, and Grand Junction's official visitor bureau describes it in its own guide to the city's public art as "this giant, larger-than-life, welded steel bike," framing it as a genuine oversized replica of an ordinary bicycle rather than a life-size or decorative model.
