This Big Thing is recorded as still being here.
Three 14-foot-tall tree-creature sculptures -- 'Happy Malone' (at the campsite), 'Bobber Malone' (fishing lakeside), and 'Oakley Malone' (on the hiking trail) -- were unveiled August 11, 2021 at Lake Malone State Park, commissioned from artist Steve Brauch of Brainchild Creative, LLC, with support from the Felix E. Martin Jr. Foundation, Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital, and Old National Bank. Kentucky State Parks and local media describe the growing 'Big Twigs' family (additional characters have since been added at the park) as designed to encourage visitors to explore the outdoors.
