FIELD GUIDE
The story
A giant thumbs-up on the way into Scottsdale is, as roadside greetings go, admirably direct.
Most towns welcome travellers with a sign, a slogan, or an oversized version of whatever they grow. Scottsdale skips the intermediate step and simply approves of you. There is no product, no local industry and no history being asserted – just a gesture, at scale, aimed at people arriving.
