FIELD GUIDE

The story

Sunbeam unveiled the Big Sultana on 27 October 2026 at Mildura's Nowingi Place, beside the Murray River. The oversized, smiling fibreglass fruit is 5.25 metres high and weighs 1,250 kilograms. ABC Mildura-Swan Hill reported that it took 13 weeks to build. The centenary installation celebrates both the Sunbeam brand and the growers who made Sunraysia Australia's major dried-grape producing district.
Sunbeam general manager Elizabeth Miller said the exaggerated wrinkles and cheerful face were designed to make people smile. The ABC reported more than 300 dried-grape growers farming around 3,500 hectares in the wider Sunraysia region.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Find the Big Sultana at Nowingi Place on Hugh King Drive, close to Ornamental Lakes Park on the Mildura riverfront. The map marks the council's Nowingi Place site, not the precisely surveyed position of the sculpture. It was unveiled on 27 October 2026; the original commitment was for at least 12 months, with its long-term location not decided at launch.
ACCESS
The attraction is at a public riverfront park reached from Hugh King Drive. Mildura Rural City Council lists picnic tables, shade and toilets at Nowingi Place. A public Nowingi Place car park is mapped nearby; follow parking signs and use pedestrian paths. The parking and walking approach have not been field checked for this sculpture. Do not drive or stop on the grass. Check current display status if visiting after October 2027.
