FIELD GUIDE

The story

A giant sardine tin, peeled half open, sits in Lloyd Mann Park – and the sardines are the joke about the festival that made it.
It was created in 2018 by Vass Engineering with the sign writer Sam Scuderi, and unveiled at a gala event. John Woods, president of Home Hill's Harvest Festival and the man behind the idea, told the crowd that the sculpture symbolised how tightly packed the festival gets – which is a self-deprecating and rather charming thing for a festival organiser to commission a monument to.
