FIELD GUIDE

The story

Chinute Chinute is a tawny frogmouth in bronze, 1.7 metres of it, and it was made by a Larrakia artist for Larrakia country.
Koolpinyah Richard Barnes was commissioned to sculpt the bird as the anchor tenant of the walkway between the Smith Street Mall and the Darwin Waterfront Precinct, and City of Darwin records confirm it was unveiled in 2010. It represents the Larrakia spiritual ancestor Chinute Chinute.
