FIELD GUIDE
The story
It is a goblet, about two metres tall, overflowing with oversized fruit – which is a more ambitious composition than the single giant apple most orchard districts settle for.
The Big Fruit Bowl stands beside the Bilpin Fruit Bowl shop on Bells Line of Road, a family-owned and operated business running since 1985. The shop is best known for apple pie, and in season the pies extend to peaches from its own orchard, cherries, blueberries, mangoes and apricots – which is exactly why a bowl of mixed fruit is the right sculpture and a single apple would not have been.
