FIELD GUIDE
The story
Bilpin sells apple pie, and it does so at a volume that justifies a giant one on the back of a truck.
The village sits on Bells Line of Road, the quieter of the two crossings of the Blue Mountains, at an altitude that gives it cold enough winters to grow apples properly – which is why a stretch of road an hour and a half from Sydney has been an orchard district for generations and a pie district for almost as long. The weekend traffic between Sydney and the mountains is the market, and the pie stops are the industry.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Current Bilpin visitor material confirms Royal Gardenia as an operating apple-pie stop, while specialist field material identifies the giant pie outside the venue. The object is mapped at venue/site precision rather than pretending the sculpture itself has been independently surveyed.
ACCESS
Navigate to Royal Gardenia at 3158 Bells Line of Road and use the venue's legal access and parking. The Big Apple Pie is an exterior photo stop at the property.
